IMO B addresses the fact that using multiple choice for every aspect of studies might not be suitable, there might be certain matters of studying where applying multiple choice tests will not accomplish the results obtained in using open ended tests.

Can you explain this sentence
Quote:
"On the other hand, timed computerized tests cause anxiety for many students and often lead to the prescription of remedial programs to address minor issues that overly sensitive data analysis can highlight."
How to connect above sentence with respect to the whole argument ??

Sure thing, warrior1991. I think the first part is easy enough to understand, prior to the and. You can take everything at face value. The second part, though, takes some twists and turns. Some unknown agent, whoever is analyzing and quantifying (or interpreting) the results may recommend remedial programs for a test-taker because the data might be so specific as to draw attention to issues that could be relatively insignificant. By way of analogy, it might be like having to take a fundamentals of Quant course simply because you had missed a question on some arcane topic such as Pascal's Triangle. Sure, numbers are involved, but maybe you missed that one question for some other reason than that you did not understand what the computerized testing program identified as the issue.

I hope that helps. Thank you for thinking to ask me.

(A) Issues identified by computerized multiple-choice testing should be of little concern to students and educators. We do not know if they should be of little concern. Eliminate.

(B) Computerized multiple-choice testing could result in the waste of educational resources used to address unimportant issues. Correct answer. The last sentence of the passage confirms this ("overly sensitive data analysis...").

(C) Open-ended tests are better suited to most students than are multiple-choice tests. Nothing in the passage touches upon the tests being "suited to" students. Eliminate.

(D) An open-ended test is cheaper to administer than a multiple-choice test. Nothing in the passage touches upon the costs of administering the tests. Eliminate.

(E) A computerized multiple-choice test yields results faster than a traditional open-ended test. Nothing in the passage touches upon the time for generation of results. Eliminate.

Hope this helps.
