Hi guys, Apologies for asking this in the middle of the R1 results. I’m applying in R2. After adding full-time internship details during UG/grad in the employment section, I’m getting the error ’Employment dates is in conflict with UnderGraduate Programme Dates’. It would be great if anyone can guide me.

I have a generic question on GPA. I basically have 65.32% as the average for all the semesters in engineering (Information Technology) from a very reputed institute in Mumbai, affiliated to Mumbai University. It's considered First Class as per Mumbai University standards, which I believe is quite decent, and Distinction is above 70%. Very very few people have an aggregate of 70%+ from my college and my stream. Probably just 10%. The subjects and exam format is such, that it is quite difficult to score very high.

So it not unfair to compare engineering Gpa to other degree courses from India?
Or how is it usually compared by top bschools?

It will be great if you can throw some light.

again only ISB adcom can give you a definite answer. But from my experience and what I have heard about ISB(which may not be true, keep in mind), though they promote students with workexperience, they mostly want stellar work experience (which is understandable) or a student with lower workexperience but higher untapped potential.

As for marking scheme of Mumbai University, it’s very well known how strict it is. But then again we don’t know the formula for comparison of respective universities/colleges that ISB undertakes.

It might even be none of these factors, but the sop, work experience quality or any other factor which may have led to the rejection.

Sometimes unrealistic expectations or weak SOP/essay is the deal breaker.

Best advice, mail the adcom and ask for feedback.

ISB has parameters for normalizing marking schemes for different courses/universities. For e.g. a 65% in English Hons in DU will probably have the same score for a 75% in a BMS course from the same university. By your assessment, you probably are in the top 15-20%..GRE is also slightly below ISB’s average. These wouldn’t have scored high in the assessment. Happy to take a look at the application to comment more. In any case, reach out to ISB early next year for feedback, they won’t entertain right now.
