Looking for some guidance around top 3 prep courses focusing on critical concepts in Q & V and tons of practice material / high quality tests availability (4-5 months prep time including testing) and feedback / individual experiences you might have had.

Hi Chinmay,

When it comes to studying for the GMAT, there are a variety of different study materials that you might choose to work with (and depending on your specific strengths and weaknesses - as well as your Score Goal - you might end up adding additional resources while you study).

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can access 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have that Score, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

When you choose a resource, make sure to choose one which helps you with the right aspects for your GMAT preparation. As GMAT mainly tests your application skills, the resource you choose must help you with:
  Concepts 
 Methodology (Very important) 
 Practice questions 
 Their detailed solutions

How to score 700+ on GMAT

So, you first learn the concepts of a particular topic, then learn the methodology to solve questions of that topic and only then practice questions to solidify your learning. This is how you go about your GMAT preparation. The resource you choose must make your prep a lot more structured and effective.

What to look for in an online course?  
And one more important thing to look for in a course is the  study plan . To make your prep effective, you need to be really consistent. So, a study plan will help you to be consistent. Having said that, you cannot follow a study plan which doesn't suit you. For example, a person who can dedicate just 3 hours a day cannot have the same study plan as a person who can dedicate 6 hours a day. So, the study plan has to be  personalized . And not just that, it's important to have the  right guidance from the mentor  because students often get stuck in the middle of their prep and do not understand how to proceed further.
