Hey!

I just got done with my first ever GMAT official practice test after studying for 1 month using Magoosh’s Quant-focussed 3-month plan and scored a pretty terrible 580 (Q: 39, V: 31)

I was able to finish both sections. I finished Quant 5 minutes ahead of time.

My honest target is 750 considering the school I want to go to. I have about 6 months to prep.

How realistic are my goals? And do I need to switch to another course?

Hey!
First of all you scored (580) pretty well in a month's time.
Also, Verbal 31 should give sigh of relief to you (With more preparation, patience & perseverance should be definitely hitting 40+)

For Quant, I think you rushed the questions given that you had finished 5mins ahead of time. Use your time wisely, Give questions the time it demands. GMAT will not reward for saving time.
Also brush up your concepts in quants. Check whether you struggled more on PS or DS.
You can try TTP (which gives 5days free trial when you create Gmatclub account). There are tons of free resources on Gmatclub youtube channel topic wise. Make use of them.

And about your last question whether 750 is realistic, it definitely is. All it asks from you is COMMITMENT.

Reach out if you need further help.

Cheers!

Thanks for all the great feedback. I took the MGMAT Free Practice Test today and scored a 680 (Q42,V40).

I’m hoping the MGMAT scores are slightly reliable though!

In my opinion MGMAT tests are a little more difficult. I usually scored 20-30 points higher on my official practice tests.

Hi seema1408,

Hey!

I’ve only given one full-length MGMAT after the first official GMATPrep test on which I scored a 680 but missed answering 4 questions in quant.

I’m still struggling with consistency with DS and it’s my lowest scoring section even in practice. Since I got such widely different scores in the 2 mocks, I’m hoping to get more clarity once I give the third one on Saturday.
