My answer is (A). It took me 01:38.

(A) Not the most elegant sentence, but not too bad either. Keep for now.

(B) "with construction slated to begin in 2014" cannot reasonably modify "Disneyland Paris". We test takers do not need to know that the construction date for Disneyland Paris was much earlier. (I just checked. Disneyland Paris first opened in 1992.) Instead, we reason that if "Disneyland Paris" was a success, it must have already been constructed.

There is no denying that option (A) does give us good impression / prejudice on the meaning of the sentence, but do not rule out (B) because "it changes the original meaning" because we do not know what the intended meaning is.

(C) The major issue is also the placement of "with construction slated to begin in 2014" right after "Disneyland Paris".
Another issue is that “inspired by the success” may be interpreted that the "very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte" is inspired by the success of Disneyland.

(D) The curious placement of "provided that enough funds are raised" within "with construction slated to begin" and "in 2014" cannot be justified.

(E) "Disneyland Paris devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte"? Can we rule it out without any outside knowledge about Disney theme parks? It would be quite difficult.
Maybe Disneyland Paris is devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte. If Disney can do it, France can certainly replicate the success!
I did have some experience with Disney parks so I know Disneyland Paris is not a history park. I eliminated (E) based on outside knowledge.

Inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris, one French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte, with construction slated to begin in 2014, provided that enough funds are raised. .

A) Inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris, one French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte, with construction slated to begin in 2014, provided that enough funds are raised.
The meaning is perfect therefore let us hang on to it

B) Inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris with construction slated to begin in 2014, one French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte, provided that enough funds are raised.
Was the construction the inspiration the meaning is distorted therefore out

C) One French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte, inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris with construction slated to begin in 2014, provided that enough funds are raised.
Disneyland in Paris scucess was instrumental in the inspiration and not Napolean himself , distorted meaning therefore out

D) One French politician, inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris, wants to create France’s very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte, with construction slated to begin, provided that enough funds are raised, in 2014.
Too manny commas is added between dependent clauses distorting the meaning therefore out

E) With construction slated to begin in 2014, provided enough funds are raised, one French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte
This gives us the meaning as though the French politician is constructed which is definitely not the intended meaning therefore out

Therefore IMO A

Simplifying the sentence:
Inspired by X, a politician Y wants to create Z, with construction slated to begin in 2014, provided that enough funds are available.

The main subject of the sentence is not X or Z, but Y (the french politician).
Meaning of the sentence:
First Y got an inspiration from X, and got an idea to create Z, and plans something in 2014, assuming that he will have the funds by that time.

The original sentence looks good with events sequencing through modifiers, and has no noticeable grammatical error .

A) Inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris, one French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte, with construction slated to begin in 2014, provided that enough funds are raised.
As per the analysis looks good. The answer choice is A. But let's eliminate others choices.

B) Inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris with construction slated to begin in 2014, one French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte, provided that enough funds are raised.
Awkward modifier in the initial part of the sentence, "with construction slated..." is modifying the "Disneyland Paris". Also note, meaning changes that construction of Disneyland Paris to begin in 2014. Eliminate

C) One French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte, inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris with construction slated to begin in 2014, provided that enough funds are raised.
Modifier error again. Is it "France's very own park..." getting "inspired by the success" and not the politician? Eliminate

D) One French politician, inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris, wants to create France’s very own theme park devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte, with construction slated to begin, provided that enough funds are raised, in 2014.
Comma placements in the sentence is awkward affecting the sequencing of the sentence, as noted in the analysis. Eliminate

E) With construction slated to begin in 2014, provided enough funds are raised, one French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte.
Modifier error again. "Disneyland Paris" is "Devoted...Bonaparte" and changes the intended meaning of the sentence. Eliminate

Can someone tell me why option D is incorrect? I don't think commas are the problem here.

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Project SC Butler: Sentence Correction (SC1)

.....
Quote:
E) With construction slated to begin in 2014, provided enough funds are raised, one French politician wants to create France’s very own theme park inspired by the success of Disneyland Paris devoted to Napoleon Bonaparte.
• modifier misplacement
provided enough funds are raised seems to modify one French politician.
Remember: introductory past participle phrases must modify the subject of the next clause. (See my post about six kind of introductory phrases, here.)
Well, in this case that subject is one French politician.
Provided enough funds are raised? For what? To buy him?
zhanbo , I hope that analysis helps reframe your perspective.
.....
[/quote]

Thanks generis for the detailed analysis as always. Regarding "provided enough funds are raised", however, I think "provided" is used as a conjunction here, meaning "on the condition that" because it introduces a clause ("enough funds are raised"). It is not used as an "introductory past participle".
