Hi jjsingh7,

Many Business Schools have publicly stated that they do not use an applicant's IR score when evaluating an application, so you likely have nothing to be concerned about with your IR3. Obviously, if you're interested in what a specific School/Program thinks about the IR score, then you should research that School directly (you might also consider contacting the School to ask).

Since you know the specific Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

1) What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores on your Official GMAT?
2) What specific application deadlines are you facing?

Hi Scott,

I have reached out to the admissions panel of the above mentioned colleges. Have received updates from John Molson till now only.
Hence posted the same on GMATclub.

However I am still unsure of Mcgill, Sauder and Schulich

Posted from my mobile device

Have you heard back from any more schools?

Hey ScottTargetTestPrep,
I did hear back from Sauder and Schulich also. I am still unsure about Mcgill. Could you help me with Mcgill.
I have a GMAT score of 680(Q-48,V-35,IR-5) and 690(Q-49,V-35,IR-3). Which score should I use while applying to Mcgill?

Hi jjsingh7,

To start, what did you hear back from each of those two Schools (and were you given any feedback about your overall profile)?

Since it's unlikely that an IR5 would be viewed as a big 'positive' by most Programs, you would likely be best served by applying to any additional Programs with your 690/Q49.

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC,
Schulich wants an overall 50 percentile everywhere. It asked me apply with 680, JMSB and Sauder asked me to apply with 690 looking at my profile.
Hence, I was unsure about Mcgill.
Now, Mcgill stated that they look at the overall score and also your aptitude which might be reflected by IR. Hence, it said that it is up to your discretion with which score you want to apply with.

Regards,

Hi jjsingh7,

Since Business Schools tend to look for the best Overall applicants, if a Rep from a School told you to submit whichever Score YOU think is best is something of an odd response. At face value, if what you wrote in your last post is exactly what the McGill Rep told you, then I'd side with the 690 (as that has the higher OVERALL Score - which was the first, and primary, measure that the Rep referenced). This all might be best assessed by an Admissions Expert though, so here is another link to that forum of Experts:

I would use the 690 since it reflects a higher quant score.
