Consider 4 men (M) and 5 empty slots (*) as shown below:

If 4 women occupy any 4 out of 5 empty slots above, then no two women will be together.
In how many way we can shoos 4 out of 5? In 5C4 = 5 way.
4 women in their slots can be arranged in 4! ways.
Similarly, 4 men in their slots can be arranged in 4! ways.
So, the final answer is 5*4!*4! = 2880.

Can we not consider W M M W M W M W as well? The question only states that women cannot be together; it doesn't mention any restriction on men being together.
