Thanks for responding to the post. I haven't explored the path of mediation or of mindfulness but I shall surely give that a try.
You'd be amazed by what you can do with your mind.

I did however explore using a whiteboard during practice. From what I have observed, there isn't a considerable difference in the experience between using a white board and using a laminated pad (I have bought both). In fact I have found that the ink on the whiteboard is more susceptible to smudging that the ink on the laminated pad. The only advantage of white board over the laminated pad is that the sweat or can be easily wiped off using the duster.
In case it wasn't clear, I was referring to the e-whiteboard that is available when you take the GMAT online, as opposed to a physical whiteboard.

I was given as many tissue papers as I wanted during my test(Since I was not allowed to take my own handkerchief). You can contact the test centre and ask if there is any arrangement for paper towel or tissues.

I generally use a paper towel or keep a handkerchief underneath my palm while writing over a paper to prevent smudging, however I don't suppose I can use one in the test center.

Consider calling your test center to see what accommodations they may be able to give you.

All the best with your exam. Some quick tips on the gmatknight website.

Hello Experts & Fellow Test Takers,

Happy New Year !

I am a candidate with Hyperhidrosis , a condition in which my palms and feet sweat "excessively" under normal situation. This is a hereditary condition (disease if you may say) that runs in my family and doesn't have many options for medical cure, surgery being the only permanent treatment.

I have always been embarrassed about this especially while shaking hands with colleagues or with strangers as my hands are moist with sweat for most of the time. The problem aggravates in scenarios when I am under pressure as it triggers excessive sweating.

I am worried that this condition may create issues while using the laminated scratch pad as the sweat is likely to either smudge the ink or make writing on the lamination extremely difficult. I generally use a paper towel or keep a handkerchief underneath my palm while writing over a paper to prevent smudging, however I don't suppose I can use one in the test center.

Wanted to get some opinions from test takers who have faced the same conditions or experts if you have worked with candidates who have had the similar conditions and ways to go about during test day.

At this moment, I am highly worried about this as I feel the condition can negatively impact test day experience.

Thanks a lot in advance for your inputs.

P.S. - I couldn't find any post which addresses questions such as this, hence posted under "Ask GMAT Experts" forum. If this is not the right forum to ask such question, happy to post elsewhere.

Visit the test centre as soon as you can and tell them about your condition. Discuss what you would need and figure out an appropriate plan with them. They should be able to provide you with as many paper towels as you need during the test. Confirm with them about the same (on the phone) a day before your test.
On test day, keep a couple of sealed packs of paper towels in your car/locker for a 'just in case' scenario and ensure that you reach the test centre at least half an hour before your reporting time.

Frankly, even if you were to do none of the above and walk into the test centre on test day and ask for paper towels, they should be able to help you out without any trouble, but it is best to be prepared for every known/predictable concern.

Hi VoxNihili,

If you are planning to take your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then there's a reasonable chance that they will allow you to take paper towels into the Computer Lab (although they will have to provide those items for you - as opposed to letting you simply bring in your own). That's not a detail that should wait until the last minute though, so I suggest that you contact your Test Center directly to discuss this issue.

Regarding the consistency of this issue, what happens if you wear gloves (and have you experimented with latex gloves - the type worn by surgeons?)?

Thank you Marty for clarifying. My bad ! I thought you're referring the physical white board. I will keep the points on mindfulness and will incorporate them. Thanks again for your inputs and insights !

Hello EMPOWERgmatRichC

Thanks for responding !

I don't have any issues with latex gloves, however not sure if the center will allow this. I can check this as well. I appreciate the alternate suggestion, hadn't thought of the gloves.
