Hello Folks, I am currently preparing for the GMAT exams and targeting for MBA in the USA, Canada or Europe. Sorry for being naive, as I don’t have any good friends working in these countries or expert guidance. As the recession is going on right now, I talked to friend who is currently in Canada, and he said that there are no jobs, inflation is too high, which created a confusion whether I should pursue for MBA as it COST a LOT OF MONEY. As this is a genuine concern for anyone who wants to study MBA, is this a right time to pursue MBA abroad. Also, I am an average student so securing a very good GMAT score might not possible in short time if I am aiming for 2024 college, is getting an average GMAT score and getting MBA from an average MBA college is good enough. ( Sorry for the long post)
Hi
Its difficult to answer this generally. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you think about this:
- The downturn is happening right now. By the time you graduate from an MBA, things would be better.
- The exact opportunities depend on your profile, background, industry, and the school you are targeting. Saying that 'there are no jobs' for any particular geography would be an exaggeration.
- An MBA is an investment in the future, not just a way to immigrate to a new place and find a job there. Consider carefully your options by speaking to current students and alumni in the schools you want to target, and the opportunities after the program. That will provide a better idea.
- Think hard about where you want to go, and what you want to get out of an MBA. Consider MBA alternatives, or not getting an MBA at all. Once you decided, proceed with getting a good (720+) GMAT score and then take it from there.
