Pounds of apple purchased = 8.16/0.68 = 12
Apple per pound = 36/12 = 3

If apples sell for $0.68 per pound and Juanita bought 36 apples for $8.16, then the average (arithmetic mean) number of apples per pound was :
So to make things simpler lets use cents instead of $$$. So multiply everything by 100.
rate of apples = 68 per pound.
She got 36 apples for 816 cents.
From this information we can get the "pounds of apples" she purchased.
x= 816/68 = 12 pounds.
Now we need apple per pound = 36/12 = 3
Hence IMO E
So to make things simpler lets use cents instead of $$$. So multiply everything by 100.
