It seems like the classic GMAT heavily rewards great verbal scores vs. great quant scores. According to the scoring matrix, one can still score a 750 with a 48V and 44Q (63rd percentile).
I am much better at verbal than quant, having taken the LSAT after much preparation a while back.
Should testers in this situation be shooting to take the classic before it goes away? It seems like the focus will reward great verbal performance less given that the 3 sections are weighted equally and DI is more quant than verbal.
On the other hand, nobody knows how adcoms are going to evaluate the Focus given that R1 2024 is the first time they've ever had to use it, and a classic score gives them something they can definitely interpret.
FWIW I've been prepping to take the focus since October 1 2023 and will apply R1 2024. I have done no geometry or SC but have been exposed to all the other problem types.
Hopefully there are some other folks in this situation who can chime in on their plans.
Thanks for reading.
