Hi, want to check on the q2 for BY

Any country that moves to trade surplus from trade deficit in the next year is placed under Positive rating, while any country moving to trade deficit from trade surplus is placed under Negative rating. If there is no change, the country is placed under Neutral rating.

Initially BY has Export > Import (Trade Surplus)
in 2008, import will increase by 10% to 1120*1.1 = 1232
Hence Import vs Export = 1232 vs 1210 --> Import > Export = trade deficit

BY changed from TS to TD is on the positive rating --> isnt it the answer should be yes?
Any country changing from TS to TD is given negative rating, thats what the question says, therefore, answer is NO.

In Q2 shouldn’t EV be yes because in 2007 I<E and in 2008 in Import there is no change but export increases by 2% so I remains greater than E in 2008 as well so it should be yes

It is given that if there is no change that is E>I remains as E>I, the country gets a neutral rating.

Step 1: Compute Imports and Exports for 2008
Using the percentage changes:

AZ (Country AZ)
2007 Imports = 958
2008 Imports = 958 × (1 - 20/100) = 766.4
2007 Exports = 683
2008 Exports = 683 × (1 + 10/100) = 751.3
2007 Status: Trade Deficit (958 > 683)
2008 Status: Trade Deficit (766.4 > 751.3)
Rating: Neutral → No

BY (Country BY)
2007 Imports = 1120
2008 Imports = 1120 × (1 + 10/100) = 1232
2007 Exports = 1210
2008 Exports = 1210 (No change)
2007 Status: Trade Surplus (1210 > 1120)
2008 Status: Trade Surplus (1210 > 1232) → Trade Deficit
Rating: Negative → No

EV (Country EV)
2007 Imports = 7622
2008 Imports = 7622 (No change)
2007 Exports = 7922
2008 Exports = 7922 × (1 + 2/100) = 8080.44
2007 Status: Trade Surplus (7922 > 7622)
2008 Status: Trade Surplus (8080.44 > 7622)
Rating: Neutral → No

Final Selection:
AZ → No
BY → No
EV → No

For Q3, My approach is:

Only countries that could be given a positive rating are those which have moved from TD(2007) to TS(2008).

Since only AZ and DW were in TD in 2007, these are the only two contenders, so in answer choices, we can select "No" for BY and EV already and do the calacution for AZ only.
Therefore, ~960*0.8 = 788; which is > than ; ~685*11 = 753.5. This is still TD, so answer is "No".
