Sharing this here to give back because GMAT Club was a game changer for me. Definitely could not have scored what I did without the contributors/resources here.
Thank you
Bunuel gmatophobia KarishmaB MartyMurray chetan2u and others who I missed out for contributing their solutions to the hundreds of my bookmarked questions.
My journey:
Started off with 90% wrong in Quant and 50% wrong in Verbal in a prep provider's textbook quiz.
Scored 655 on my first attempt (Q80, V85, D82). Mocks ranged from 625 - 705.
Scored 695 on my second attempt (Q88, V84, D81). Mocks ranged from 655 - 715.
Study PlanStep 1: Skim through the OG review for Quant & DI. Watch GMAT Ninja's free videos for Verbal.
Step 2: THIS STEP IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP. Complete the Easy/Medium/Hard questions in the OG Books untimed.
For questions where you're unsure, took too long or had to test options (for Quant), do corrections (check the official solutions and/or GMAT club). Write down new formulas you've learnt.
My accuracy (untimed) was 90-95%/85-90%/75-85% for Easy/Medium/Hard.
Step 3: For DI, complete the questions in the Official Online Question Bank untimed.
Step 4: (OPTIONAL) Redo the official questions in the Official Online Question Bank, timed. This is a good way to check if you've memorized the formulas from Step 2.
Step 5: On GMAT Club for Quant, you can filter question by topic (Algebra, Combinations, etc), difficulty (605 - 655, 655 - 705, etc) and source. I highly recommend you complete 5-10 questions per topic for a difficulty around your target score, timed (2 minutes). This step humbled me after scoring 80-85% correct in OG Hard questions, but gives you the extra knowledge you'll need.
Step 6: (OPTIONAL) Repeat Step 5 but for Verbal/DI if you're struggling, but I recommend you only filter by "OG" sources. I did not find questions from other sources to be accurate, except for DS questions.
Step 7: Review all your corrections from OG and GMAT Club questions and formulas you wrote separately.
Step 8: Attempt your first Mock. Do corrections.
Step 9: If you've scored 30+ points below your target score after your first mock, review all your corrections, attempt 10 questions on GMAT Club for topics you got wrong. Do corrections for wrong/unsure questions (normally posted on GMAT Club).
If you've scored within 30 points below your target score, do corrections for wrong/unsure questions (normally posted on GMAT Club).
If you've not reached your target score within 3-4 mocks, I highly recommend redoing Step 2 (for Verbal/DI) and Step 5 (for Quant).
Tips for GMAT Club Users1. When you find a post on a question you struggled with which introduces a new formula/concept,
bookmark it. Before your exam, open up all your bookmarks and review it.
2. The
Forum Quiz allows you to filter by topic for Quant and difficulty. If you find yourself weak in a topic,
filter for questions below and around your target score, and drill 10+ questions.
