Hi everyone, I started my GMAT prep in February 2024 using
Target Test Prep (TTP). Since I had never taken a standardized test before, I didn’t bother with a diagnostic and jumped straight into studying. I finished TTP by May and took my first official GMAT. Even though I knew I wasn’t ready (my mocks were around 575) I wanted to test my abilities. I ended up scoring 565 (79 Quant, 81 Verbal, 74 DI), but I believe I lost points on DI because I forgot to confirm my last question. After that, I focused more on OG questions from the online datasets and worked through questions on GMAT Club. I completed TTP, which gave me a solid foundation, and then started e-GMAT, thinking it would push me further, especially in Quant. I also began reviewing my
error log more effectively and started reading more to improve Reading Comprehension, which has been helping. By early October, I scored 635 (79 Quant, 83 Verbal, 82 DI), which gets me closer to my target of 705. While I felt more fluid in Verbal, my Quant score didn’t improve, possibly because I choked on the last few questions. DI also felt easier, likely due to consistent practice with OG questions, especially DS and TPA. I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with Quant where they hit a plateau after covering the basics and can offer suggestions on how to break through. I think I need to focus more on drilling the topics I get wrong. If anyone has any advice or is on a similar journey, I’d love to connect! Good luck to everyone on your GMAT journey.
