At a certain industrial manufacturer, an open tank contains 6% fluorine dissolved in water. If the tank holds 1000 gallons, and 10 gallons of the total volume evaporate as water each day, what is the concentration of fluorine after 25 days

A. 4%
B. 6%
C. 8%
D. 10%
E. 15%
Total qty in tank = 1000 gallon
Fluorine = 6% of 1000 = 60
Pure water = 1000-60 = 940
Water evaporation in 25 days = 25*10 = 250
Water left = 940-250 = 690
Total Qty in tank = 690+60 = 750

Concentration = \((\frac{60}{750})*100 = 8%\)

Answer: Option C

Given that 6% is Fluorine in 1000gallon i.e 60F+940W.

10gallon Water evaporates per day till 25th day.

Volume remains is 750gallon

Percentage of fluorine is (60/750)*100 = 8%

A tank which holds 1000 gallons of solution ( water + fluorine ).

6% fluorine is present in the solution (1000 gallons) = 60 gallons.

10 gallons of water evaporates each day. Total volume of gallons evaporated in 25 days = 250 gallons.

When water evaporates the volume of Fluorine remains constant which is 60 gallons.

After evaporation the volume remaining is 1000 - 250 gallons = 750 gallons.

Concentration of fluorine = 60/750 = 8%. Hence Option C
