If you read closely you actually need P+C so try thinking in getting this equation than solving the whole thing :

Eq 1: 2P+3C=12.75
Eq:2 4C+3P= 17.50

If you look closely the order for the second equation is deliberately changed to trick you, and if you just simply substract these two equations you woul end up with P+C

Answer: 4.75 (D)

simply subtract eq 1 from 2

P+ C = 4.75
