I just had my interview, campus tour, and lunch with student today. I felt the interview went extremely well! It was extremely laid back and conversational. Below is a quick recap:

Interview
- 2nd year student
- 45 minutes
- Questions: Walk through resume/experiences, Why MBA, Why now, Why Duke, Leadership/Teamwork experience, previous and current EC activities, which activities do you plan to get involved in at Duke, any questions?

My interviewer was extremely nice and passionate about Duke and Team Fuqua. (As is everyone I encountered throughout the day. There were 1y students in the waiting area chatting with everyone before and after interviews which was very helpful. The waiting are was pretty full with candidates. EVERYONE HAD A SUIT ON. I was told by current and former students before hand to wear a suit even though the invite said business casual. I would definitely recommend doing the same.

Tour
The tour was pretty basic, but the new building is extremely nice. The classrooms and meeting rooms are all very nice and hi-tech. However, there is a no laptop policy in almost all classes. I was even more impressed with the campus in general. It is extremely beautiful.

Overall, my experience at Duke today has been phenomenal. I could definitely see myself here over the next 2 years.

Now the waiting game...3 down, 3 to go!

I don't think so.. it won't hurt but not all of us (women) can take off an additional two days of work on top of the visit/interview and they understand that (or so they claim).

When i attended the interview on campus, second yrs were telling there was 40% acceptance rate from the pool that attened this event. It might be just a coincidence but it definitely shows your interest in school though..

I think that because people need to get accepted to be able to attend the weekend for women, that makes sense. But I don't think it necessarily hurts a woman for not being able to go or apply. At least I really hope not!

I received a "application complete" email from Duke today which told me that i will receive notification of an admission decision by December 19, 2008. I have applied for a alumni interview but the email doesnt mention anything about it. What does this mean??

I too got the application complete email today. So it looks like what I thought it was - they were probably so busy with the EDs that the int'l apps haven't even been completely evaluated yet. I also think we'll likely hear about setting up our alumni interviews in the very near future.

right, but i know of international applicants in another forum where they were interview via phone and only then their application was set to "completed". so i guess a call is justified to clarify things?

but they have specifically mentioned "will receive notification of an admission decision by December 19, 2008". to me it means either of the 3 possibilites :

it means that they will now want to set up an alumni interview for me.
it means that they already have checked out my profile in depth and see no further need for interview.
it means that my profile is good enough without a interview.

obviously in any of the three cases making me wait uptil 19th is wicked. whereas you think they are evaluating the first possibility; i sincerely wish you are right here.. :-)
