I have a question for those who are going to the Duke weekend for women. What is the difference between smart casual and business casual? I know what business casual is because I wear that almost everyday. But I have never heard of smart casual. Can anyone shed some lights? Thanks.

Here's what I said last year to the same question:

Don't stress too much about the clothes. They said smart casual because while that part of the program isn't formal - no interviewing, no need to look "professional" - they didn't want people to look like slackers. So just look nice. Think going out for dinner (you wouldn't wear scruffy stuff) - medium price restaurant (no need for pearls/fancy dresses) - with the new boyfriend's parents (don't look tarty, to be blunt). Be casual, but look cute.

Does that make sense?

out of curiosity, it seems that last year's event was only two days...any idea why they decided to make it one day longer?

actually, last year was was a day shorter than in previous years. we thought we could offer the same benefits and programming during just a couple days, but we really felt last year like the weekend was less stellar, so we reverted to the previous length. You guys are going to have an AWESOME time.

I interviewed on campus on Monday - I really liked Duke. My interview very much followed what has been reported, with special emphasis on the Why Duke question. I actually had a chance to attend the basketball game on Sunday afternoon with a couple of MBA2s - Cameron is unbelievable and it was a really great way to see what the students are like outside of class.

The new building is beautiful and Duke does a great job of welcoming prospective students. As others have said, the rest of the Duke campus is gorgeous.

Did anyone get scholarship information..Today i got mine in the admission package...Even though its not that big amount, but i am happy to get atleast some $$..

Oh, I really wanted to wear the gmatclub nametag, but I suppose this works too (Just kidding).

Though I shouldn't be too hard to recognize. If you see a person that looks like they one week prior stole all the Thanksgiving dessert for themselves and succeeded in finishing it all, that will be me :lol:

I thought it was something like 80 people that are accepted - if that's true, GMATClub represents around 5% of attendees :-D

Normally Duke takes 2 weeks from sending admits to send scholarship notification, but this time they were fast.
