I'm very much lost when it comes to solving an inequality problem. Please help!

say [(x-5)^2]^1/2 =P
here RHS ,i.e,is always +ve => P>0 since (x-5)^2 >0 always
=> 5-x >0 always for P=5-x

(1) says -x|x|>0 => x0 always => 5-x >0 always hence SUFF to answer
(2)says 5-x >0 SUFFI
