Just wrapped up my Booth interview. It was very unstructured and essentially a 2 hour conversation into which the following questions were interwoven:

1. Why MBA? Why Now?
2. What is a typical workday for you like?
3. Why Booth?
4. What do you enjoy about your work?
5. What else do you enjoy about your work?

The remaining topics of conversation were very specific to my resume where we discussed various aspects of running a business and how I actually handle a lot more responsibilities than my title projects. Most of the questions were usually covered in our general conversation so when he did ask a specific question I had a base to start off on. He didn't take many notes, I hope he remembers all my pointers as to the research I did on Booth and my specific interests etc...

All in all as a conversation it was great and very informational. From the standpoint of a defined interview - I am not sure how I did. I will know in a few weeks anyway I guess.

Sounds like the interview went great, Deepauk!

Everyone seems to be nailing the interview... Here's hoping it bodes well for a high success rate for R1 for us kids at gmatclub.com this year!

Thanks Sapphire, though personally I am still ambivalent. I keep reminding myself that I've done everything and its totally up to the committee and that there is still a high possibility of me not getting in. But I cant stop myself from daydreaming about the Winter Garden, considering this is the only +ve news I've heard from all the schools I have applied to so far.

Hello,
I had my phone interview today with adcom, standard questions:

walk me through your resume
why MBA, why now
long and short term goals
why Booth
leadership experience
how will you contribute to Booth (talked about clubs I will join)

felt it went well (like all the others :-D )

Good luck to all, the waiting begins...

Had my interview on campus this Saturday

1. Describe one thing on your resume you are proud of
2. Why consulting
3. Why MBA
4. Why Chicago
5. Extracurriculars
6. Questions for me

Too short..hardly went for 25 mins with questions. Had to get creative to weave in all my resume into the answers.

Any friendly GMAT club members who applied Booth R1 (successfully :D) willing to help a current R2 applicant?

Just want to PM some fairly generic questions over about the app process.

Thanks for any help!

Just finished with my interview today.
It was in Interviewer's office.

My interviewer was quite cool in interaction but definitely asked a lot of probing questions.

1. Tell me about yourself.
2. Why MBA
3. Why booth, where all have you applied
4. When will entrepreneurship really figure in your future goal? (i had mentioned about starting my own venture as long term goal)
5. What does my family perceive about me pursuing MBA now at this time.

Overall, the experience was good. ( He asked my gmat score as well.)

But i am not sure what's the exact part interview will play in the final selection process. Because Rose has mentioned in her post that it's just yet another input.

So keeping my fingers crossed till Dec-16th....

So how does this R1 thing work? Looking at last year's thread the calls went out on the day before the deadline, so this year we should expect calls on Dec 15, or ding emails on Dec 16? Would be nice to know where I'm going before the holidays - fingers crossed!

Good luck to everyone else here too!

I don't remember where I read it, but I think today is the last day to get interviews done. The adcom should be deliberating for the next 2+weeks. Good luck to everyone, and try not to bite off all your fingernails between now and then!

I'm seriously considering leaving my phone off the entire day before and waiting until the decision emails are definitely sent out to check! This is going to be ten times more suspenseful that the interview invite wait.

My recent alum interviewer confirmed this practice. Calls go out to almost all admits (maybe minus some internationals where timezones don't coincide well) the day before, which would be 12/15, and WL or Deny go out via the email on the deadline date.

I am going to be on vacation when decisions are released without a phone or internet access.

Anyone have an iphone and bring it outside the US? Does it really rack up the bill as much as I have read when it is on?
