You will be surprised how many people DO NOT drink at school. There are people whose religion doesn't allow it and there are people who just don't...there are also people who very rarely will and will nurse one drink for hours. No one keeps track. The only time drinking is an issue is when people are out of control and had too much.

i dont think you'd be forced or expected to drink. just remember, a sprite looks deceivingly similar to a gin and tonic.

i usually go this route. or just a coke...nobody can tell if i have rum in it or not lol...

I'll echo River's comments. Every event I've ever attended has always had non-alcoholic beverages available and nobody cares if you're drinking or not.

There are people who just don't drink, but there are also a lot of people who drink but don't want to drink at certain times (got an exam the next day, etc). Any time I've decided not to drink I've never felt any peer pressure at all.

Interesting post. My suggestion is just go with the sprite or coke route. It doesn't matter if you're drinking alcohol or not, the important thing is how you're interacting with the people there.

You won't be expected to drink. If you are worried about how you will look without having a drink in your hand, order a club soda or a ginger ale and you'll be fine.

hi guys...had a quick question. i personally don't drink. i'm asian and 1 drink i'm bright red...i don't get drunk but i'm just red and look ridiculous.

so when it comes to recruiting events and formal dinners and all, what should i do? i've always been okay so far in my career just avoiding drinking completely, and people seem to be okay with it. but from what i seem to gather in bschool recruiting, there's a lot of alcohol involved...

suggestions?

Also just pretend like a club soda is a vodka soda, nobody will really care! During our process we had plenty of people just drink water, it's not a big a deal as you think.
