I was waitlisted. Hmm I wonder how many invites go out for third round. I'm sure it isn't 5 like someone said earlier!

There's no way of knowing--that's why someone threw out 5 as a sarcastic answer.

Ding here too.

Just before logging to my email I started wondering what made me apply to bloody Harvard in the first place :)

Oh well, after this first experience I should be less stressed waiting for Wharton decision of Friday I guess.

This is a painful day for many people... including myself. It's not easy being positive after getting a generic letter in exchange for all the intellect, emotion, creativity and months of preparation that we have put into this application. It hurts. Period.

My plan is to get drunk tonight, sleep in tomorrow, go skiing this weekend and start to take advantage of all the other great opportunities in my life that I have been too distracted to focus on. An application is supposed to reflect your life, not be your life or dominate your life.

I will be back next year.

No offense, but you didn't expect a personalized ding letter from a school that denies ~90% of its applicants did you?

"ding" sounds so much better than "rejected"

It's a ding here...my friend who was a R1 HBS admit assures me its because they probably think I'm a better fit at Stanford :)

I think I can get on board with that!

Ding for me as well.

I heart missed a beat when I saw the notification email. But I could guess even before I checked my account. I knew the notification "Your application decision is now available online" was no good signal at all.

My heart dropped as HBS' application was the most well-prepared among all applications to schools for which I applied this year. But it seems that I am not good enough.

I'd better be focused on preparing for 2 interviews coming in the next 10 days. Best of luck to all those invited to interviews with HBS.

I wouldn't go that far. It's not just a matter of your qualifications - there are a whole lot of other things that come into play. For example, diversity of backgrounds, education, gender, previous industry etc. It said so in the rejection letter itself - in the end, it's just a matter of numbers. Perhaps someone with a similar background as you was already admitted in R1.
