Ding here as well. Cheer up guys :-) This was the first time for me to apply to HBS, and I guess my GMAT score was not competitive at all. So I am back to GMAT Club. Guys, please suggest me some books to improve my Verbal score.

I would strongly recommend Manahattan series. It benefitted me a lot. They have separate book for each section in verbal (CR, SC and RC). pick the ones in which you struggle the most. I used SC one and it helped me a lot to get a good score (not that ultimately it mattered as I got dinged from both HBS and Stan, two of my top choices :) )

Thank you so much for the reply, I will read Manhattan books. Btw, what do you think about "Verbal bible" and "CR bible" (Power Score)? Your score is outstanding, I am sure you will get into another school and will be happy :-)

Not sure about the other two. Didn't refer it. I used OG, Manhattan, Princeton (which i didn't like), Kaplan (decent not great). Thanks for your wishes. :) I already have an admit from Kellogg from R1 and heading there in Aug.

If in the end it was a question of diversity, I really wonder how many German entrepreneurs they had applying in R2...sometimes I have a bit of a feeling that they do not want tooooooo much diversity.

Anyhow, many of us proved wrong the words of Art Williams who said "All you can do is all you can, but all you can do is enough." At least, in my case this wasn't true.

Cheers,

Diversity for Indian male applicants stops at IIT's. I applied despite being advised that I wouldn't make it; I am glad I did atleast I wouldnt have the "what-if" I question.

Has anyone in the past (ding without interview) received feedback from HBS on why they were rejected? What is the best method to ask? Email or Phone Call?

Dee provided a 1 hour window of time for a week so rejected applicants could call her for feedback after round 1 decisions. It's not the same this round? There's some content about this in this thread, I just don't remember which page.

i couldn't find this in the search.. and the thread is veeery long to read it post by post. do you know how and when was that announced?

Go to page 44. An email came on December 13th last year (I'm a round 1 applicant). There have reports of some dinged IB/PE types calling her and Dee mentioning that she wished they worked in the automotive industry instead or something like that. HBS guru may be able to comment. It looks like with the new dean, who is far from a Mormon, they are trying to shake things up a little this year regarding class diversity. All of this is anecdotal...

hbsguru - can you chime in on how to reach out for ding feedback? Phone call or email to Dee? I assume a phone call would catch them offguard and they would defer as they wouldnt have the info on hand.

Power score bible is great for CR, and manhattan books for everything else. Moved my verbal from 70th%ile to 95th.

I second the recommendation for Manhattan GMAT. I signed up for one of their online live courses, and I think the structure it provided really helped me stay focused.

I third the MGMAT books. I pulled my score up from 640 to 700 in a couple of months. I could have scored even higher had my sister not going into labor 20 min before my test (talk about stress during the test sheesh!).

Hi guys,
can we move the GMAT discussions to another section of the forum. We need to keep the HBS thread to the point so people who refer to it next year and beyond, don't get bogged down in irrelevant stuff.

So now I'm curious. Did anyone receive an interview invite on 2/16 like HBS claimed would happen or were the notices all dings and WLs? It doesn't really matter at this point, but I'm just curious if anyone really did receive an interview invite.
