Stanford has been very cruel to its applicants. first they sent interview invites in no order all through the application round and now, they are calling admitted students. Too much uncertainty for applicants in their model. I sat through Wharton notification day and it was not fun to hear people getting calls and to keep checking my phone hoping it would ring. I didn't apply to Stanford thankfully. Good luck to all waiting to hear something today.

4 of the 5 schools I've applied for have done the same thing, and the 5th one kept interview invites trickling out over a two week period. One of the 5 made its admit notification phone calls over a week-plus period. Those things are pretty much the norm these days. If hearing about other people's admits bothers you, the best option is to stay off GC.

i kind of agree. maybe "cruel" is an exaggeration but i must admit i prefer the harvard method of "you'll know either way at X time, and then we'll call to congratulate you later".

Agree with this. Sloan kind of does it the same way. E-mails at 5pm. Then they call you afterwards.

I think i've been misunderstood. hearing about others admits definitely does not bother me. what i was saying is that there is too much uncertainty over how they send invites and how they admit students. harvard sent invites over two weeks and gave periodic updates. wharton communicated the exact days they were sending invites. harvard sends out one notification email which reduces anxiety over will i or will i not get a call. i only applied to a few schools so not aware of many schools' models. i have just been watching this thread and can only imagine how frustrating it is for people who applied and have been watching their emails for the past 10 weeks or so. More uncertainty increases stress levels that is a well known fact in psychology. Anyway, today is admitted student's day so I say it's enough of this discussion didn't mean to change the topic on the thread.

Ok, I get your point, but I still think the stress is mostly self-created. In the pre-GC and pre-social networking and pre-AdCom blog days none of this anxiety would have existed. People would have just been in the dark from the day they mailed in the applications until they got a letter in the mail or a phone call.

I'm guessing he won't hit the West Coast until 6-8pm PST. Seems like it took 12+ hours to get through everyone in the past.

No idea, 2012. We haven't heard any news from India yet, so perhaps not. On the other hand, we have a small sample size so...who knows. Good luck to you!

It seems like those (like me) located in Europe will have a long night...

Congratulations to all those who have been accepted.

Question: I have not been interviewed yet. I applied to GSB in the 2nd round. Does this mean I have been rejected?
