Based on what we've read the applicant pool for the top MBA programs has increased somewhat significantly in the last 2 years. Do you guys think it is the actual number of different people applying that has gone up? Or, is it that people are becoming more paranoid and desperate and just playing it safer and applying to a lot more more schools?

Probably a combination of the two. However, I am curious to whether there's any insights as to which is more?

Also, assuming the average number of applications by one applicant has gone up, the yield of the schools should go down. Therefore, their acceptance number (not sure about rate) should go up. Thoughts?

Well if you look at the GMAC GMAT stats, it looks like there are just more people. Plus in recent years there's alot more people talking about MBA since everyone thinks it's a good ROI.

Are the stats showing the number of distinct people taking the GMAT has increased substantially?
