Whats the utility of transferring to a top program?
Lets say you are a plastic surgery/neurosurgery/orthopedic surgery resident and getting an MBA during residency. Im currently at a top online program (think of IU/UNC/Tepper/etc.) in my first year learning some good information. Very little networking. Im proud of my school and learning and awesome new language of business (which most people in medicine rarely see from college through med school).
My end goal is I want to utilize my surgery job as my day job, and might even do it part time. I want to focus the rest of my time on real estate development, angel investing, health care administration/consulting, entrepreneurship. I want the skills, the network, and the acknowledgement from others that I have the background required.
Residency is limiting me to only doing an online MBA right now. Also I didnt have to take the GMAT. FWIW I did go to a prestigious medical school.
Is there any utility to drop out and pursue a full time MBA at a H/W/S? Perhaps pursue a MSx at Stanford after residency?
Thanks!
