I rejected C
Becuase of being
With being we need to have noun but absolved and exculpated are not nouns
Thats why i choose D

In option B: “Before He” but we are talking about madame cama, so it’s wrong.
Option D: parallel construction “ before exculpation and her absolution” so it’s worng

Here no other sentence but "C" makes sense because of "Tricked by fickle partners" but can someone [lease explain when is the use of being accepted
Being is used for a temporary state, here how are absolution and exculpation are temporary?

Thanks in advance,
Hital

does this seem like a weird SC question to anyone else? misspellings of words, switching of pronoun genders... seems like a tongue twister or a riddle. what is the source of this question?

This certainly wins the prize for the silliest GMAT question I have ever seen! Having said that, there's certainly no doubt about the correct answer. All of the wrong answers can be completely ruled out on the basis of the words use in their opening modifiers! However, most of you can probably tell that this does not resemble an official SC question. Diction (word choice) can be tested, but not generally in the form of one-letter differences in rhyming words! :D
