Statement 1 says,
|N|=N, only true when N>=0
Question asks is N +ve or -ve, but N can be 0 as stated above (0 is non-negative)
Hence not sufficient

N>N^2
N^2 is always >=0
so, N>0

N could be 0 -> No N is not positive
N could be 1,2,3.etc ( any positive number) -> yes N is positive
Hence Insuff.
Statement 2:N>N^2
->N^2-N<0
->N(N-1)<0
->0< N <1 hence N can only be positive. Suff.
