Okay, after studying like a madperson, and consistently scoring about 690 on the practice exams, I took the test TWICE and did miserably both times. Once, a 590 (v = 41,q = 29) and the second time 600 (v = 38, q = 35) so as you can see, no consistency, all over the place. As far as I can tell, the timing seems to mess me up. I took a month off, feeling completely knocked down and dreams in the gutter. Now I am sitting at my desk again, wondering how to start and do well on this.
I have done an entire princeton review book, and a math review workbook by kaplan. also, i have already completed the GMAT 800 verbal by kaplan. so what to do now? can someone help me with my strategy. I have 6 weeks before the exam.
Thanks and here's to getting the 700 that I know I should be getting!

In regards to improving your math..
-do all of the questions in the Official Guide, review the answers, write down your errors, and a few days later redo the questions you got wrong.
-do all of the math practice tests and math section of the CATs on the Kaplan CD to improve your timing; don't worry if you fail to finish the practice tests before the time is up. Also review the answers, write down your errors, and a few days later redo the questions you got wrong.
-then do the math problems out of the Official Guide again under time conditions starting from the problems in the back of the book
In regards to the math are you having problems with Data Sufficiency (DS) or Problem Solving? I had a problem with DS when I first started my prep. However, I kept practicing DS questions consistently until I got use to them.
In regards to PS, you may want to check out a college algebra, arithmetic, and geometry book to go over your weak areas while you practice math questions.
The first thing I did before preparing for the GMAT was to flip to the Math Review of the Official Guide to the page that lists the areas that are covered on the GMAT. Likewise, I reviewed those concepts in detail from math books (I checked out at from my local library).
By the way the Princeton Review Quant was very easy to me; much easier than the real GMAT.

I know how you feel. I wrote the GMAT (1X) and my scores WERE NOT indicative of my ability. I was crushed. I'm going to do it again...my problem DS....
Can anyone give me some more insight on how to do DS...? PLEASE?
Stephs, don't worry.I know it's easier said then done but you can write the GMAT up to 5x a year.
