Well, if I feel that my app is strong enough I would still apply in R3 even if only to increase my chances next year by showing my dedication to the school by re-applying.

Personally, I was not bothered much with applying in R1. But that's just my personal attitude.


so from reading on their website, they strongly suggest that we do a visit and interview before we submit application, unless you have a good reason. is that right?

Yes, Tuck encourages applicant initiated interviews. It is not absolutely necessary to be interviewed before submitting the app, but you need at least to schedule the interview and mention it in the app.
