Tulane MSF

Question

I saw on Tulane's MSF website that 93% of the students were international. With that being said, is it an advantage or disadvantage to apply to the Tulane MSF program as a 23 year old domestic white male? My gmat is 650 and gpa is 3.1. Do I have a shot?

You'll get in with this stats, no problem. I think you'll get into just about all the other schools you listed as well. Do you have work experience? I think you could look at some higher profile schools as a possible stretch goal.

I have 6 months work experience, but it is in tax. Out of this group: Tulane, Ohio State, SMU, Utah, Ariz State, and GA State...which 2 are the best options in your opinion? I am from Atlanta, but would GA State even give me a good chance at a F500 finance job? I know that with it being in the heart of ATL, it is in a good place, but I'm not sure about how reputable the program is.

I'm under the impression that this group (excluding all other programs) of programs shapes out like this: Tier 1: Tulane, SMU, Ohio St. Tier 2: Utah, Ariz State Tier 3: GA State
Is this somewhat accurate in your opinion? I'll be applying to Vanderbilt as a serious longshot as well.

I think GSU is fine. They are working to improve career outcomes. I did a recent post about it on my site. I think SMU is great as well. Dallas is good area and they've had a lot of success placing people in a variety of careers. OSU is good as well.

IMO, SMU then Tulane for Texas placements. GSU for the hometown ticket. OSU if you want a good program, but a different geographic experience.

Thanks for the info. Texas/Dallas area is one of the areas that I like the most. Do you think, as a domestic student, that UT Dallas would be a good option? I know their program is good, but I'm worried that I will have a hard time finding a F500 finance job coming out of UTD. The price of the program is excellent, but would it be worth the extra $20-$30K to attend SMU or Tulane-in your opinion...

I would apply to SMU/Tulane and ask for scholarship or grant money. You might be able to close that tuition gap pretty easily and the increase in brand and reputation will absolutely be worth it.
