The underline ends at "and"; there is no underline on "the". sorry for the mistake, i hope i'm clear now.
My answer is B for this.
can't use comma before "and". so A is INCORRECT
B - uses the right language (seventeenth-century tulip craze in the Netherlands) and also uses "as well as" after the comma. so, it sounds CORRECT.
C - sounds like examples were coined.
D - uses "and" after comma.
E - changes the "tense" (present to past).
My answer is B for this.
