Question:

I'm ready to submit my app for one a school but I am waiting on one more letter of rec. from my former manager. Is it possible to send in the application and have the LOR submitted afterwards? The school runs on a rolling app so I want to submit asap.

I'll have to call the school to confirm the answer to my question, but everyone is still on holiday until next week.

Personally, I would submit it if I did not plan on making any more corrections and send my recom. a reminder e-mail saying that your application is not considered complete until all pieces have been received. may prompt them to speed it up.

I'm going through a similar problem. Although, I've alreday submitted my application, it's still missing the 3rd recommendation.

The deadline is on Jan 3rd and my recommender has had his response ready for 2 days now but is having trouble connecting to the internet from Nigeria. I feel completely helpless.

I called Columbia, and they said to submit. One of my recommenders said he submitted LOR, but web site does not show it so probably he did paper forms

But Columbia told me to submit anyway

Call the school. Most will actually accept a slightly late recommendation - they know its not your fault.

1 of my recommenders is in China and as a result of the earthquake near Taiwan, he has had trouble accessing the internet. The key problem is that data transfer between parts of China (and other countries in Asia) and the US has been disrupted. As I understand it, connectivity is being restored, but some regions are still 100% down and may be for another week or two.

Last week I emailed most of the schools I am applying to. They are all on break, but Wharton did respond. They said that they are aware of the connectivity issues and that they will make a determination when they get back to work tomorrow. If connectivity is still an issue tomorrow, I suspect they will offer extensions to people submitting recs and apps from Asia.

I'm eager to hear back from the other schools, particularly UCLA whose deadline is up first for me (Jan. 3).

i just called USC and they informed me that it was fine to submit my app even though 1 LOR is not submitted..they will review when the LOR is in...
