We observe that the statements are not individually sufficient to find the average of the entire group as information on the other group is not given. So we can eliminate A, D and B. If we combined the two statement -
Let's assume that the number of players in group Y is n
Number of players in group X = n + 20
Total score by both the groups = 73.5*n + 68.20(n+20)
Total number of students in both the groups = n + n + 20 = 2n + 20
Average = \(\frac{73.5*n + 68.20(n+20) }{ 2n+20}\)
We can't take anything common to cancel the (n+20) from the denominator, thus the average will depend on the value of n.
Option E.
Let's assume that the number of players in group Y is n

Total score by both the groups = 73.5*n + 68.20(n+20)
Total number of students in both the groups = n + n + 20 = 2n + 20
