Little Ivies are highly ranked small liberal arts colleges, most are located in New England. The three usually referred to are Amherst, Williams, and Wesleyan. I know that sometimes the big three in Maine, Bates, Bowdoin, and Colby are considered, then a few in CT Haverford and Connecticut. You always hear about different ones.
But the basic is that typically they are old new england liberal arts colleges of high regard.
No clue on the Tycoon U but I would think it would would refer to power house business schools that aren't considered Ivy. Michigan, MIT, NYU...etc.

Little Ivies are basically the high prestige liberal arts colleges of the US Northeast which would include at the very top Williams and Amherst and near the very top Haverford and Swarthmore.
Tycoon Universities are the American high prestige research universities that developed outside of New England in the 19th century thanks to the generosity of major industrialsts. Examples include Stanford University (Leland Stanford-Railroads), the University of Chicago (John D. Rockefeller- Petroleum), Duke University (James B. Duke- Tobacco Products), and Johns Hopkins (Johns Hopkins - Railroads). Thanks in part to their large endowments, the Tycoon U's are now among the most prestigious institutions in the United States, effectively displacing many of the lesser Ivy schools in the undergraduate reputation cluster just below Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. The Tycoon Universities were a major force in the development of the modern research university in the United States.
