Hi,

Kindly guide why "if u help me" is an independent clause?

Any good source to practice type of clauses and identify subject verb in complex sentences.

It can't be an Independent clause. It is a condition that's why it is an Adverb clause.

Hi kk12, if is (what's called) a subordinating conjunction and marks the start of a Dependent clause.

The easy way to figure this out is that if u help me can clearly not stand on its own as a complete sentence, a pre-requisite for an Independent clause.

Our book EducationAisle Sentence Correction Nirvana discusses types of Claues , their application and examples in significant detail. If someone is interested, PM me your email-id; I can mail the corresponding section.
