Hello Gmat Aspirants and experts,
I recently wrote the GMAT for the 4th time and have still not been able to translate my mock tests performances onto the real Gmat.
I have been preparing for the Gmat for the last two and a half years and every time I wrote the paper, i would be able to identify a mistake that i committed on my previous attempt and plan to rectify it.
However, this time around, I thought I had covered all bases and was fully prepared to conquer the exam. However, I was utterly disappointed to see my results.
I had been taking the Veritas Prep tests for the last one month and repeatedly scoring between 680 and 700. I was taking the mocks under strict test conditions, writing all the sections, with exact break timings and no disturbances.
In the course of my preparation, I have utilised all available credible resources and have no idea where and how to improve.
Only one notable change i could pick out while writing the exam was that the questions seem to be slightly different than what i had been practicing.
The reason of not taking the official Gmat prep mocks was that i have already utilised them while preparing for my previous attempts and hence would see exaggerated scores while writing them.
I am losing hope on my dreams of securing a dream college admit.
If there is any possible advice that anyone can provide, i would be really grateful.

I don't know if you play any sports but if you do then you would understand this analogy.
It doesn't matter if it's football, soccer, basketball, cricket or tennis. There's a big difference between playing well in practice and in a live game against a tough opponent.
My experience with hundreds of test takers with the same exact issue is this: Usually the biggest reason for gaps in performance between practice tests (mocks) and live tests is not have "resilient" in-test processes. Just like your follow through, stance, balance is more important during a real match in sport, your process needs to be consistent in answering quant and verbal questions. You can often get away with it during practice, because you're more relaxed and the questions are not the absolute best ones the GMAC test writers have come up with.
On game-day (test day), you need to better, more consistent with how you play each question (quant or verbal). That's the surest way to maximize your score to reflect your deep understanding of all the content.
I can share some more specifics with more understanding of how you approach questions in the test. Feel free to reach out if you want some more personal insights.
