My interviewer for Kellogg (a Kellogg alumnus) had received full scholarship (tuition + living expenses) offer from UNC. But that was back in 2002/2003 and he chose Kellogg. I don't know any other example apart from that.

Hope it helps. L.

When I visited UNC, I was told by several students that they have a reputation for giving big chunks of money to relatively few students, instead of less money to more students. Unconfirmed, but that seems like a pretty accurate description from what I've seen.

I get that impression as well... which doesn't bode well for one at or only slightly above the mean.

the mean of what? I've heard people say that GMAT is a predictor for scholarships, but I would guess that it's a bit like admissions - a good one will help, but it ain't the whole story.

Well, this guy I'm talking about (the one with the full scholarship offer back in 02/03) had a 700 GMAT.

Cheers. L.

Did he tell you if he regretted it? I just wonder what most of us would have done in this situation. UNC is a good solid school but I think a lot of us would forgo this scholarship to attend a M7 school. But what would you do if you get offered a significant amount of money at UNC, would you forgo this to attend a school ranked let's say between 7-15 ? Let's say Yale, Cornell, Michigan, Duke, UCLA ?

I'd take full boat at UNC over full freight anywhere. UNC has very good recruiting, thats all I need to know.

Based on my personal preference, I'd only take Michigan and probably all the M7s vs. UNC freebie. I would not take any of the other ones you mentioned. I admit, though, that my research is not that extensive on all the other ones.

Anyway, in his case, he was totally excited about Kellogg since age 15 (which is when he first read Mr. Kotler's book and heard about NU / Kellogg for the first time). He did not imagine himself anywhere else and there was no question about it for him.

Cheers. L.
