I'm an Indian international student admitted to both Vanderbilt Owen (90k) and UNC Kenan-Flagler (70k) with post-MBA goals in consulting or tech. As an international, I'll need to put in equal recruiting effort (that is my assumption) at both schools, so I'm primarily focused on which program will give me a more enjoyable and memorable MBA experience - the campus vibe, events, collaboration, sense of community, and diversity. I like the feeling of living in Chapel Hill amongst nature, but I am also attracted towards the campus vibe at Vanderbilt, as I assume its smaller cohort will offer stronger collaboration and tighter connections. I attended a Vanderbilt event in India (students were here for an immersion) with domestic students, Indian alumni, incoming students, and a professor, which felt warm, though I haven't had deep community interactions with either school yet. From the admitted student portals, UNC's class seems dominated by students from Nigeria, India, and domestic backgrounds with only a few from Europe and Vietnam, while Vanderbilt appears to have slightly broader country representation. I'm particularly interested in the daily MBA life, social scene, events, and how internationals experience the diversity and inclusiveness at each school.
