Understanding the droning lecturer with comprehension required the intense concentration of the class members present in the lecture hall, all of whom were students.

Understanding.....comprehension->redundant
class members .........students->only student can suffice.

Extremely wordy. The intended meaning is to understand the droning lecturer, students need to concentrate intensely.

A. Understanding the droning lecturer with comprehension required the intense concentration of the class members present in the lecture hall, all of whom were
students. - Same as above
B. Comprehending the droning lecturer with the intense concentration of the class members present.->Awkward structure- faulty sentence structure Subject->Object->Verb
C. To understand the droning lecturer, the students had to concentrate intensely. -> Succinct and coveys the intended meaning
D. As the lecturer droned on, the students found themselves required to concentrate in order to understand. -> Awkward Wordy
E. The students listening to the lecturer, who was droning,increased their concentrating ->changes the intended meaning that lecturer increased their concentration.
