Hi all - one of my recommenders for R2 applications left our company about a month ago - his wife's job relocated her and they decided to move, but he hasn't found another job yet (I know, shocking in this economy).

Does anyone think it will it look really bad if his occupation is listed as "unemployed" on the recs? He wasn't my direct supervisor but he was a senior manager I worked with very closely for 2 years who supervised a ton of my projects, and I know he will write a great rec. I am on applications #6 and #7 and have kind of maxed out all my other recommenders...

I don't think it matters. My recommender is now a stay-home mom.

i actually had a similar situation--im in finance, and one of my recommenders was let go right before r1 deadlines. i asked adcom at info sessions about this, and they said just put a brief note of explaining it in the application and it doesnt count against you.
