Thank you so much for the insight!

Also, How would you rate the Ms Finance course of Baruch Zicklin in terms of placement? I ask this because if I get into Baruch, my cost of living will be extremely low because my siblings live in Manhattan.

Posted from my mobile device

This makes the choice pretty obvious my friend. Baruch placements are hard to discern. That being said, Baruch is a) in Manhattan and b) has been educating people on Wall Street and in the business/finance sector for decades. Tons of alumni on the street and a great name in NYC. If your COL is dirt cheap, why wouldn't you go there.

I'd rank Baruch well over UMiami with what you told me.

UPDATE:
I got admitted to UIUC and Baruch Zicklin. However, the deposit deadline is march 8th for UIUC
I also gave the interview for simon and it went pretty good but the result wont be out till april.

and I really want to go for simon because i want to work in NYC area. Should i let illinois go and take the risk of waiting for simon? how would you rank UIUC and Simon Rochester?

also, the cost efficiency factor might no longer work in the case of Baruch.

any help in deciding among the three is much appreciated!

Hello everyone,

I'm currently a senior at a mediocre university in the United States. I am graduating with summa cum laude. I have a double major in Accounting and Finance, and a minor in Mathematics. I want to apply for masters in finance at Miami business school. I know it's competitive. I just wanted to get some evaluation of my chances for acceptance at Miami Business school ms finance. Here is my profile:

An international student at a US university
Major GPAs: 4
Cumulative GPA: 3.93
GMAT 710 (Q50/V37)
Honors college: graduating with Summa Cum Laude
two research papers (writing in progress)
President/founder: Financial Management Association (FMA)
Founder of a community library in my hometown (providing access to more than 10,000 individuals)
Election Commission: Student Government Association
Student Ambassador: college of business and economic development
President: high school student council
No work experience: senior at current college. no internship because I'm an international. You all know how difficult it is to get internships and jobs in trump administration.

I am working hard to get into some competitive master programs. Please help me evaluate my profile and suggest me how i can better improve my chances. Thank you,

Hey there ,

Miami business school is a fair school, can be considered under the Tier-2 category of the United States. The MFin program over there is STEM certified so for an international applicant, you can say that this is one advantage.

It’s a decent University but with the profile you have, you can target better schools.
With 9 months of work experience with a big four and your GMAT score, you can give a shot at other schools in your target list such as Baruch and Pennsylvania State University(PSU).

As far as a brand name is concerned, both Baruch and PSU have a better brand reputation as compared to Miami Business School. If money is not a major concern, I would recommend you to target the other two schools as they will yield better results in terms of exposure and job opportunities. But make sure your essays and LOR’s are properly written highlighting all your strengths. One of the major strengths that you can showcase your work experience at big four.
You can also highlight any extracurricular activities, internships, initiatives taken, any achievements at the workplace.

Some other top schools for pursuing Masters in Finance are :

Dream - Princeton, NYU, MIT, USC Marshall
Competitive - Vanderbilt, University of Illinois, Texas Mc Combs
