B) studies report that the woolly mammoth of sub-Arctic regions of Asia, Europe and North America had smaller significant ears unlike present day elephants do --change in meaning + wrong comparison
C) studies report that as present day elephants, the woolly mammoth of sub-Arctic regions of Asia, Europe and North America had significantly smaller ears --usage of 'As' is incorrect
D) studies report that unlike present day elephants, the woolly mammoth of sub-Arctic regions of Asia, Europe and North America had significantly smaller ears --Correct
E) As present day elephants, studies report that the woolly mammoth of sub-Arctic regions of Asia, Europe and North America had significantly smaller ears --same as A and C.


IMO D for the highlighted errors in other options.
