A&B&C out for awkward, VAB and meaning

Between D&E
- At first glance i would have gone with E due to parallelism, etc
BUT E is singluar and plural is needed as the beginning of the sentence ("their") relegates to more than one person

--> D

What is the difference between "has been found to be" and "has been found". I chose option E and it is incorrect option.

Unlike their close cousins the blue jays, which demonstrate raucous, aggressive, selfish, and very individualistic habits, the behavior of the Mexican jay has been found to be quiet, cooperative, communal, and even altruistic.

(A) the behavior of the Mexican jay has been found to be

(B) the Mexican jay's behavior has been found

(C) it has been found that Mexican jays are

(D) Mexican jays have been found to be

(E) the Mexican jay has been found

Obviously, I ruled out a,b, and c.
But I picked e.
What's wrong with d? What's the differnece between d and e?

Unlike their close cousins the blue jays, which demonstrate raucous, aggressive, selfish, and very individualistic habits, Mexican jays have been found to be quiet, cooperative, communal, and even altruistic.

Must be (D) for the correct idiomatic usage ....
