Hi,
I'm planning to take two months of unpaid leave because of my health condition. I will still be "employeed" by the same employer but won't get paid for the two months. In this case, do I need to specify the unpaid leave on my resume or any other part of my applications such as optional essay?
Also, when I report my annual salary on my applications, do I need to deduct the two months from my annual salary? For example, if my original annual salary is 120K, should I report the original amount of 120K or 100K after deducting the two-month periods?
If I have to report the deducted amount of 100K, I'm worried that it might leave a false impression that my salary went down during that year. But I'm also worried about reporting the original amount of 120K. I've heard the business schools run a background check, and I want to avoid any potential issue with it. For example, what if I don't specify the unpaid leave in my application and report the original salary of 120K but the admission committes find out that I actually took two months off and the actual amount I got paid was 100K? Since my employement status will still be a "perminent employee" of the company, the total amount of annual salary on my compensation letter or employee roster won't change. But the deducted amount might appear on my tax records.
Thanks.
