Hello everyone,
Today I took the GMAT exam at Perfect English Test Center. Unfortunately, I encountered problems that I had no control over and that distracted me. To begin with, the pens that were provided for me didn’t work properly. Consequently, I was not able to take any notes neither in the Integrated Reasoning part nor in the Verbal part. I raised my hand for more than 5 minutes for the test administrator to come and give me new pens, yet no one arrived. Furthermore, the outside noise distracted me a lot. The testing room was not quiet enough for me to focus at all times and one test taker even left the room talking loudly and leaving the door open. Could you tell me whether there is any action I can take in this case?
Sorry to hear about your experience. Was this your first time taking the GMAT?
You can definitely bring this up to the GMAC. They will review the video footage/audio and determine if this warrants a compensation.
Usually outside noise is not considered a meaningful enough distraction (unfortunately) since it can't be controlled by the test center and you are given ear plugs. But give it a shot.
Thank you for posting this - could you specify city/country please?
