Hi everyone,
Long time lurker here. I've been kind of preparing for the GMAT on and off for about 3 years or so now. I have taken the test thrice but still a little far from my target score ( 730+ because I am Indian M). I am now at the point where I feel like I "kind of know everything" but I can't score.
Quick wrap-up about the journey so far with scores:
1. First GMAT: 14th January, 2021. Score: 650. Q44 V35. Main prep source used:
GMAT Whiz2. Second GMAT: 11th February, 2022. Score: 700. Q46 V40. Main prep source used: TTP. I did the entirety of TTP and was averaging ~750 on the practice tests. Was surprised with the difficulty of quant questions on the real exam.
3. Third GMAT: 17th October, 2023. Score: 600. Q38 V34. Complete disaster. Canceled the score. Main prep used: Local GMAT tutor. Had fluctuating practice exam scores.
The third GMAT I took hit me a little and I took a break. I started again last month with the GMAT Ninja's 12 week study plan. I do believe a lot of my quant problems boil down to silly errors. Especially with concepts such as percents and other word problems. For the last couple of weeks I have been taking the
experts' global practice tests. Scores have been 525 (Q75 V80 DI 73) and 585 (Q79 V80 DI 73) respectively.
Problem is I am not able to keep up with the study plan consistently. I think there's a lack of accountability, and I am also unsure whether following this methodology will get me the score that I want. I am thinking whether I should enroll in another GMAT course. I tried engaging a private tutor but it just feels very transactional with them - not enough skin in the game.
Looking forward to thoughts and suggestions on how to take this forward. I am targeting INSEAD/LBS for J26/25 intake. So I have some time. I just want to get out of this stalemate.
