now my question is if we (internationals) come on student visa we can work for a year beyond graduation. But to do a summer internship do we need a H1B??

Also we would get our H1B only after one year of completing the MBA so is the income that we earn as students (i.e on a student visa) doing internship taxable??

If you do your internship under the student visa, you will only get your SS taxes back. Federal, State and Medicare is still levied on your income. Once you become H1B, all will be taxable.
