Dear all,
I have found a lot of topic arguing about whether is better a Top USA MBA or a Top EU MBA. Clearly, the answer is tied to goals and other factors such as preferred location but I'd like to gather some ideas.
Since I'm directly involved I try to jot down my thoughts and I'd like all the m8s in this forum to give their contribute.
My profile:
Nationality: Italian
Age: 31,5 at matriculation in both schools.
Education: Engineering
Prof. Background: Industry
Goal post MBA: MC in general, dream MBB
Location: USA\Europe, indifferent
Pro INSEAD:
* I would join the work force in 2016 and since I'm already in the 30s, I think it can be important.
* The program cost is about the half of Tuck's.
* Great brand in Europe.
* Great network in Europe.
* Great placement in consulting.
Doubt about INSEAD:
* A lot of people think statistics are massively inflated by student with company sponsorship.
*
A lot of people argue that it's not so easy, even though possible, switching to consulting without a previos business experience: That's a huge point of discussion, it's important for people like me to figure out whether we'll have great possibilites to switch. Is INSEAD mainly a
business school for people who already get their dream job or it's also a
concrete means to gain the tools to chase a dream for people
like me.
* It's a strong brand in Europe but in the end the only two countries I'll be able to work in are UK and Italy since I can't speak other
European languages (Iwould have to learn French in order to get my degree but not at such a level to allow me finding a job just as
the program ends).
Pro Tuck:
* The two-years MBA is a great life experience.
* Can give me the opportunity to work in US.
* Thanks to the interniship, I could have more opportunity for a career change.
I'm really struggling guys. At the moment I'm slightly leaning towards Tuck cause I really want to switch career. But opinion on INSEAD
are quite different. Lots of people think is a great school for aiming at consulting, other think that it's quite overrated.
Please help.
Thank you all
