This is my current understanding and I need a little bit of clarification regarding some issues. When using coordinating conjunctions, I understand there need to be complete clauses before and after the coordinating conjunctions. S+V, [and] S+V. However if the subject for the both the clauses and the verbs are difference we can go Subeject [verb1] and [verb2] (without the comma)
Now say we have a sentence such as: Tom Brady is the best QB in football, but has always been embroiled in controversies. In this sentence we have a comma before the coordinating conjunction but. My question is do we need to keep the subject pronoun in the clause after but. eg. Tom brady is the best QB in football, but he has always been embroiled in controversies.
Which of the two versions are correct or are they both fine.
The second confusion I have is with use of as well as. eg. Justin, Henin, Murray as well as roger are the best golf players in the world. Is this sentence always incorrect on GMAT. I understand that the use of and is preferred, but can we disregard a sentence based on use of as well as in this sense.
Any help would greatly be appreciated. I am sorry if this is not the appropriate forum for this and if so please tell me where to post it. TY.
